On Tuesday, December 3, "Santa's Helpers" from SCAOR's Sussex Strong congregated in Rehoboth Beach Walmart to purchase Christmas gifts for needy children throughout Sussex County. Sussex Strong members donned their favorite elf outfits and selected presents for over 300 children who might otherwise receive nothing for Christmas. The team provided necessities such as coats, socks, gloves, hats, and (of course) a toy or two! Over 60 volunteers and 20 Cape Henlopen High School DECA students participated in this event. Included among the volunteers were a number of Jack Lingo, REALTOR® agents, including Kristina Lingo, Karen Maull, April Irelan, Molly Bayard, Melinda Ingram, Jessica Shomper, Tracy Kelley, Ava Cannon, and 2020 Sussex Strong President Robb Kimbles.
Before the gifts could be distributed, they needed to be wrapped! Almost 100 volunteers came out to the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach on Thursday, December 12, in order to wrap the gifts. Volunteers included local REALTORS®, affiliates, and family and friends of SCAOR board members. After the wrapping was complete, local service centers picked up the gifts for distribution to families. Wrapping volunteers from Jack Lingo, REALTOR® included Robb Kimbles, Kristina Lingo, Rick Zimmerman, Camilla Conlon, Jessica Bradley, Marissa Murr, Sherri Martin, Karen Maull, Marylou Reynolds, Ian Lawrence, Michael Edelin, and Meghan Shupe.
Kristina Lingo, rental agent at Jack Lingo, REALTOR® and past president of Sussex Strong, stated, "This year's wrapping event seems to have drawn a much larger number of volunteers than previous years! Everyone involved was extremely grateful for and touched by the opportunity to help serve our neighbors in need."

For dozens of centuries, it’s been highly prized land.
Long before it was part of the United States and Delaware, natural assets drew Native Americans to the coastal land between freshwater lakes and Atlantic Ocean now known as Rehoboth Beach. Freshwater for obvious reasons; the beach and ocean for summer breezes.
Archaeological studies have determined that this area of Delaware, for a long period of pre-colonial time, hosted the largest seasonal encampment of Native Americans along the North American continent’s Eastern Seaboard.
In the colonial period, pirates anchored off the Delaware coast to row ashore and fill casks with freshwater from the lakes. When troops from invading British ships in the War of 1812 left the mouth of Delaware Bay and headed down the coast to get freshwater denied them by an unaccommodating Lewes, local militia beat them to the punch and drove them off the beach in front of the largest of the lakes.
Now those unusual freshwater lakes so close to the sea - which may have once had Native American names - are called Lake Comegys, Silver Lake and Lake Gerar. At the southern edge of Rehoboth Beach’s corporate limits, Silver Lake is the largest of the three.
Between the lake and the ocean is a dune-protected strip of land studded with low-profile pines and houses. Margaretta Lammot duPont Carpenter bought that unique stretch of property between Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach in the early 20th century. She and her husband, Robert Ruliph Morgan Carpenter, nestled a classic, shake-shingled beach cottage behind the dunes there as a summer retreat. Her father, Lammot du Pont, was one of the early principals in the DuPont Company, and her husband worked for and was also an officer in the rapidly expanding enterprise.

On October 19, the Carrie Lingo Team was pleased to present the first-ever Showfield Daffodil Dig. This fun-filled event brought together numerous Showfield homeowners and offered them the opportunity to both beautify their community and get to know their neighbors. The Carrie Lingo Team provided over 2,000 daffodil bulbs to participating Showfield residents, who then planted the bulbs throughout the natural area surrounding the community clubhouse. Special thanks to Rise Up Coffee Roasters for supplying the gardening fuel and Carolina Sugar Fairy Custom Cakes and Sweets for baking delicious daffodil-shaped cookies. In the springtime, Showfield's clubhouse will be surrounded by 2,000 bright and beautiful daffodil flowers!

On Saturday, November 2, Cape Henlopen High School hosted the 4th annual Delaware Resorts 55+ Expo to benefit Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth. Over 80 companies attended the event in order to promote Coastal Delaware's vibrant 55+ lifestyle. With free admission and free parking, visitors of all ages were welcome to come and enjoy a variety of specials, giveaways, and prizes. The event's lead sponsor, Beebe Healthcare, even offered free screenings and flu shots. Jack Lingo, REALTOR® was proud to attend the expo in order to educate visitors about the wonderful real estate services the company provides. Representatives from the brokerage included Molly Bayard, Mike Dominguez, and Melinda Ingram -- all licensed REALTORS®.

On October 24, the Sussex County Association of REALTORS® Community Service Foundation held its annual Sussex Strong fundraising gala. The theme of this year's event was The Great Gatsby, which encouraged attendees to show off their most electrifying Roaring Twenties attire. Always enthusiastic to #GiveWhereYouLive, Jack Lingo, REALTOR® was the gala's proud sponsor. Additionally, two of the company's rental agents, Kristina Lingo and Robb Kimbles, served as the event co-chairpersons.
In addition to its financial sponsorship, Jack Lingo, REALTOR® was thrilled to donate a creative "Kentucky Bourbon Trail Tour" gift basket for the evening's silent auction. Overall, the auction grossed over $70,000, all of which will be used to support local children and families in need. Jack Lingo, REALTOR'S® basket was incredibly popular and sold for the highest bid of the night! Worth a total of $3,865, the basket was made possible by donations from the company's sales and rental agents. What an incredible display of generosity from the amazing residents of Sussex County!
