In an effort to promote health and fitness throughout our community, we asked three local wellness experts to provide their advice for kicking off 2021 the healthy way. Keep reading to find out what they had to say!
Adam Howard, Owner of The Body Shop
With the new year quickly approaching, Adam Howard, owner of The Body Shop in Rehoboth Beach, recommends a conservative approach to healthy changes. For long-term behavior change, establishing healthy habits should be a slow transition to ensure that the goals are created and met to start your new sustainable lifestyle.
About The Body Shop: The Body Shop Fitness Center has been serving the downtown Rehoboth Beach community since 1989. Located at the corner of First Street and Wilmington Avenue on the ocean block of Rehoboth Beach, The Body Shop offers an ideal setting for travelers and year-round residents. The Body Shop is a full-service fitness center specializing in personal training and offers various beach boot camps throughout the year. Its owner, Adam Howard, has established a large personal training clientele over his 15 years of ownership. As a co-founder of Dewey Goes Pink, a 5K race for breast cancer awareness, Adam believes in supporting his local community and promoting wellness throughout the beach area. For information on personal training or membership options, please contact Adam Howard at (302) 745-4622 or Adamtrainz@aol.com!
Brooke and Kat Wyman, Owners of SoulFire Collective
Brooke and Kat Wyman, owners of SoulFire Collective in Rehoboth Beach, recommend starting each morning in "personal airplane mode" (aka a mindfulness practice). Take 10–30 minutes to yourself: meditation, quietly sipping a cup of coffee on the couch, reading a book, journaling, or moving your body. They cannot stress enough how important it is to create some space for yourself in the morning (free from social media, the news, etc.), as it sets the tone for your entire day. We encounter so many stressors throughout the day, so it is best to start the day as grounded, clear, and full of gratitude as possible.
About SoulFire Collective: SoulFire Collective offers both live and on-demand classes in a variety of styles and lengths. They also offer a Digital Studio subscription for people who want to bring yoga into their homes or on the road. The first seven days is complimentary.
